Sami Saarelainen continues with Xentek Motorsport for GT5 Challenge 2019.

Sami Saarelainen will be returning to the Ginetta GT5 Challenge 2019 with championship front-runners Xentek Motorsport.

The Finnish driver joined the Xentek Motorsport family in 2018 and had some impressive results throughout the year, with a stand-out performance at the challenging Knockhill Circuit while on the coveted British Touring Car Championship support bill.

After missing out on a full title challenge in 2018 due to professional commitments with Finland’s National Air Force – which forced him to sit out the Spa Francorchamps and Donington Park events – Sami has champagne and silverware in his sights for 2019.

Sami’s season kicks off later in March as he joins the team for six weeks of pre-season testing. He will also spend some time in the team’s workshop boosting his mechanical knowledge of the 155bhp Ginetta G40.

Sami Saarelainen, driver: “I am happy to be teaming up with Xentek Motorsport for 2019. After racing with the team in 2018, we took some big steps forward. Everything within the team feels professional and we have a great environment. I want to be fighting at the front from the moment the lights go green at Oulton Park and I know I have the right team to support me.”

Sarah Jayne Mckenna, Xentek Motorsport Co-Owner: “We are really pleased Sami will continue his Motorsport carer with Xentek Motorsport for 2019. He showed great potential last year and with the additional test days planned it should give him the experience he needs to go into the races on the front foot.”

As the second driver announcement of 2019 for Xentek Motorsport, Sami’s return to the team is set to bolster to a five-strong line-up for the Derbyshire-based outfit heading into the new season.
