Scott McKenna joins Xentek Motorsport for 2019 title bid.

Front-running Ginetta racer Scott McKenna is looking to take his motorsport career to the next level this season, as his joins Xentek Motorsport for a championship bid in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge.

Joining the team which clinched the driver’s title in 2016, the North Yorkshire-based ‘ice driver’ has his sights firmly set on the top prize. Having claimed pole position at Rockingham Motor Speedway during the championship’s final visit there last season – as well as rostrum finishes at that same venue and Silverstone – the 17-year-old is looking to spend 2019 at the sharp end of the action.

Mentored by Bentley ambassador and Le Mans 24 Hours winner Guy Smith, and having started his motorsport career within the Ginetta Junior Championship, the teenager will be looking to continue his development both on and off track as he bids for the silverware.

Chris Richards, Xentek Co-Owner said; “We are really excited to have Scott in the team for 2019. He has shown great pace in the Ginetta G40 – both in the Junior class and the senior GT5 car. He displays a great maturity in his racing and we have no doubt Scott will be fighting for position at the front of the grid – and the overall title – come Donnington Park in September.”

Scott McKenna, driver, added; ‘“I’m only a couple of seasons into my racing career, however, one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learnt is the importance of working within a team. A driver must have complete confidence in the team around him, and I couldn’t think of a better team to place my trust in than Xentek. The outfit has a fantastic track record of success in this championship, and that only serves to inspire me to give my very best. I can’t wait for April.”

The 2019 Ginetta GT5 Challenge gets underway on 19th April at Oulton Park. As always, the series will act as a support race to the prestigious British GT championship.
