Xentek Motorsport stormed to a brilliant pair of race wins and seven podium finishes across a hugely-successful final round of the 2024 Ginetta GT Championship season at Brands Hatch this past weekend (28-29 September).
The South Yorkshire team brought the curtain down on their 11th consecutive season of Ginetta competition with a brilliant set of results for their PRO class contenders Luke and Conner Garlick, and AM front-runner Callum Noble.
Sibling racers Luke and Conner Garlick headed into the final weekend going toe-to-toe for vice-champion honours in the final standings. The final three races presented plenty of twists and turns for the duo, with each scoring a richly-deserved class victory to end the campaign.
Luke got the upper hand in qualifying, finishing second fastest overall, however his opening race started disastrously as he unceremoniously punted into the Druids gravel trap on lap one. Fortunately able to recover to the circuit, he was left to settle for third in class after a trip to the pitlane.
Conner had been on course for that third-place result until a late puncture forced him through the pits and dropped him to fourth. He got that podium in race two though, finishing up third, while ahead Luke put in a brilliant drive to score his third PRO class victory of the campaign.
Misfortune returned for the 2023 Ginetta GT5 Challenge champion in the final race though, with more contact from another driver sending him into the gravel and out of the race. Conner had no such issue though, charging to his second win of the season to secure the runners-up spot in the points.
Noble meanwhile brought his impressive debut campaign in Ginetta racing to a close with his best weekend to date. Immediately establishing himself as one of the fastest AM contenders, he produced three faultless performances to score a hat-trick of second place class finishes.
Sarah-Jayne McKenna – Team Manager: “We’re delighted to have ended the season on a high note with a big haul of trophies, and the Garlick brothers securing their top three championship finishes. It was fantastic to see both of them back on the top step of the podium to end the year, they really deserve that moment after brilliant seasons.
“Callum has showed tremendous progression through his partial season and it all clicked for a great conclusion at Brands Hatch with the podium hat-trick. It’s been another rollercoaster season of Ginetta racing and we’re proud of everyone on and off track for their efforts this year.”
