Xentek Motorsport produced a sensational performance during the second round of the 2025 Ginetta season, with all four of their drivers securing podium finishes at Silverstone (26/27 April).
Looking to build on a fantastic podium-filled opening weekend to the season at Donington Park earlier this month, the South Yorkshire team had more success in their sights as the GT Championship and GT Academy each contested two races on the full Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.
Hadley Simpson excelled on his GT Championship debut at Donington Park earlier this month and he followed that up with another superb performance at Silverstone. The rising star lit up the timesheets in qualifying, going fastest of all for his maiden overall Ginetta pole position.
Simpson went on to superbly lead the way for the majority of the opening race, narrowly missing out on a deserved victory as he slipped to second on the penultimate lap. He repeated that result in race two, piling the pressure on the race leader throughout as he completed a brilliant podium double.
Alex Duncan is contesting his debut season in car-racing this year and continued his impressive progression in the GT Championship at Silverstone. The teenage talent qualified fourth in the competitive PRO AM class and secured the same result in race one.
Duncan followed that up with his best performance to date in race two. Charging forward four places on the opening lap alone to settle into the top ten overall, he maintained position through the race to score a brilliant breakthrough Ginetta podium finish with third in PRO AM.
In the GT Academy meanwhile, Xentek Motorsport were once again battling at the front of the field with Ginetta newcomers Shiv Sapra and Alex Deighton as part of the team’s new collaboration with leading GT squad Paradine Competition.
A strong start to the weekend saw both drivers qualify inside the top six overall, with Sapra just edging out his team-mate as he ended second fastest in the rookie class. He went on to comfortably run in that position throughout the opening race, securing a brilliant third-class podium finish of the season.
Following a solid fifth place finish in the GTA class in race one, Deighton excelled in a chaotic second encounter. Running fourth for the first half of the race, he pounced on an incident ahead to slot into second and brilliantly defended the place in the closing laps.
That secured him a second GTA class podium of the year, while his efforts over the weekend were also rewarded with a pair of class victories in the Chairmans Cup. It proved to be an unfortunate second race for Sapra though, culminating in retirement.
Christopher Richards – Xentek Motorsport Team Principal: “To have a weekend where every one of our drivers takes home a trophy is really special. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team, giving our drivers fast and reliable cars and letting them showcase their talents on track.
“Hadley’s pace has been clear from the start and his first podiums are just reward for his efforts. Likewise for Alex, who’s making huge strides forward and this podium is the first of many. Shiv and Alex did a great job in the GT Academy too and it’s great seeing them both battling at the head of the field.”
The 2025 Ginetta season continues in four weeks’ time over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend (24-26 May) on the Oulton Park International circuit.
