Xentek Motorsport Enjoy Quadruple Ginetta Podium At Donington Park

Xentek Motorsport continued their fantastic start to the 2024 Ginetta GT Championship season at Donington Park last weekend (25-26 May), with Luke and Conner Garlick combining for a four-podium haul for the third consecutive event.

Full of confidence after each scoring a brilliant race win in the previous round at Silverstone, the racing siblings were on great form again in Leicestershire as they produced impressive drives in wet and dry conditions across the weekend.

After both finishing inside the top three in class in Friday testing, they repeated that performance in qualifying the next day to set themselves up for podium challenges, with Luke edging out his brother by less than a tenth of a second.

Luke went on to hold second in class throughout the opening race of the weekend, while Conner just missed out on silverware as he came home fourth. The brothers enjoyed an exciting duel in the early stages of race two, with some close, side-by-side racing between them.

It was reigning GT5 Challenge Pro champion Luke who got the upper hand as he finished second again, with Conner joining him on the podium in third. The final race of the weekend saw Luke complete a hat-trick of second places, with fourth for Conner ensuring both remain in a healthy position in the championship standings.

Xentek Motorsport had expanded to a three-car entry for the Donington Park event, with the South Yorkshire team welcoming Ginetta debutant Callum Noble. With only one previous test outing in the team’s Ginetta G56 GT Pro, the weekend was a huge learning experience.

He made great improvements every time he took the circuit though, building up his confidence and speed as the weekend progressed. The experienced BMW racer put in three strong race performances, enjoying a best finish of fourth in the Am class in races one and two.

Sarah-Jayne McKenna – Team Manager: “It’s been a really positive weekend all in all, with great performances from all three drivers. Luke in particular impressed with his podium hat-trick, while Conner was unlucky to only get one trophy with the pace he was showing.

“Both of them have title aspirations this season, so these are the sort of clean, consistent, high points-scoring weekends they need to be producing. It was great to welcome Callum to the team as well and we feel he did a great job for a debut weekend, with some really strong progress made.”

The 2024 Ginetta GT Championship season continues next month with the latest edition of Ginetta’s G Fest event – this time taking place at the Anglesey circuit in Wales over the weekend of 29-30 June.
