Xentek Motorsport have brought their fantastic 2025 Ginetta season to a close with a brilliant performance in the final round at Donington Park this past weekend (04-05 October), securing a great haul of eight podium finishes from five races.

While the South Yorkshire team narrowly missed out on adding to their tally of ten Ginetta championship titles, they concluded a phenomenal season with a remarkable total of 40 class podium finishes across the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship and Ginetta GT Academy.

For the second visit of the season to Donington Park, Xentek Motorsport entered Hadley Simpson and Alex Duncan in the GT Championship, alongside Phil McGarty and Paradine Competition-backed pair Shiv Sapra and Alex Deighton in the GT Academy.

Sapra headed into the weekend with an outside chance of winning the rookie class title in the GT Academy and he put in a determined performance across the finale weekend. After qualifying third fastest in class, he moved forward one position to second in the opening race.

Another podium in race two ensured the title fight went down to the final race. Cruelly a first corner incident hampered his chances, but he fought back superbly to climb up six positions overall to complete a rookie class podium hat-trick and secure vice-champion honours to end his debut car-racing campaign.

Deighton made a welcome return to the grid after missing the previous round at Brands Hatch and was right back in the thick of the front-running action. Impressive performances across all three races netted him a pair of fourth place finishes in the GTA class and a Chairmans’ Cup podium hat-trick.

McGarty meanwhile completed his 11th consecutive Ginetta season with a great weekend. Fighting forward in all three races, including gaining four places overall in both the second and third outings, his consistent progression was rewarded with a seasons’ best result of eighth overall.

In the GT Championship, Duncan put in one of his drives of the season in race one. Charging through the field, the young talent rose from 12th on the grid to fifth overall and second in the Pro-Am class. Cruelly his hopes of adding another podium in the final race were dashed when he was caught up in a large opening lap incident.

Fellow first-year Ginetta racer Simpson was also able to conclude the campaign with a podium finish too. After finishing fourth in the Pro class in the opener, he excelled in the final race as he climbed into the top three overall at one stage before finishing up with his fifth Pro podium of the season.

Christopher Richards – Xentek Motorsport Team Principal: “It was a typically frenetic weekend of Ginetta racing to bring the 2025 season to a close. There were highs and lows across the team, but we’re pleased that every driver was able to end their campaigns with some great performances.

“While the title didn’t go his way, Shiv put in a brilliant weekend with three more podium finishes and is a deserving vice-champion. Alex returned in great form and took home a few more trophies too, while Phil made good progress in all three races and enjoyed some great racing on track.

“Alex’s drive in race one was superb and it’s a shame he was innocently caught up in a big accident in race two, he didn’t deserve to end the season like that. Hadley didn’t have the easiest of weekends, but he kept fighting throughout and we’re delighted he could end the year with a podium.”
