Xentek Motorsport enjoyed a weekend to remember in the fourth round of the 2025 Ginetta season at Snetterton (12-13 July), celebrating an impressive haul of five class victories including a superb seasons’ best performance from Shiv Sapra.
After securing a fantastic total of 20 class podium finishes from the opening three rounds of the campaign, the South Yorkshire team were keen to carry on their positive run of form as they kicked off the second half of the campaign in the summer heatwave in Norfolk.
Rising stars Hadley Simpson and Alex Duncan were continuing their campaign in the GT Championship, while Paradine Competition-backed drivers Alex Deighton and Shiv Sapra were joined in the GT Academy line-up by championship debutant Makesh Parekh.
Sapra was the star of the show in the GT Academy over the weekend, as he produced the best performance of his maiden Ginetta campaign to date. Qualifying fifth overall and second in the rookie class, he shot into the class lead on the opening lap of race one and comfortably held it throughout.
He produced a repeat performance in race two, dominating the class again, before saving the best until last in race three. After finishing fourth overall in the first two races, he charged forward to a seasons’ best second place overall finish as he became the first rookie this season to take a hat-trick of wins on a single weekend.
Deighton joined his team-mate in impressing at the sharp end of the field across the weekend. Battling it out on the fringes of the top six overall through the first two races, he secured fifth and fourth place results in the hotly-contested GTA category.
He went on to enjoy some wheel-to-wheel action with Sapra in the final race, eventually following his team-mate home in third overall. That result earned him a richly deserved third GTA podium of the season, as well as completing a double win in the Chairmans Cup class.
Parekh faced a steep learning curve as he made his Ginetta debut on the competitive GT Academy grid. He produced an impressive weekend, getting three full race distances under his belt and improving his lap times throughout on his way to a trio of top five rookie class finishes.
In the GT Championship meanwhile, Simpson was in good form going into Snetterton and that showed as he propelled his Ginetta G56 GTP8 to third overall in qualifying. That put him in the mix for a podium finish in the 20-minute sprint race on Saturday afternoon.
The reigning Britcar Trophy champion produced a brilliant drive to soak up some pressure from behind and maintain third place throughout to score a fourth PRO podium in five races. Unfortunately, his hopes of another rostrum visit in race two were ended when a small misjudgement on track led to an unfortunate early retirement.
Duncan had taken three consecutive PRO AM podium finishes heading into the event and a great qualifying result of third in class set him up for another challenge. A brilliant opening lap to the sprint race saw him move up a position in class and climb into the top six overall.
Battling it out wheel-to-wheel with experienced Ginetta champions, an impressive performance netted him a seasons’ best second in class at the flag. Duncan continued to star in the 40-minute endurance race and was on course to finish third before a heart-breaking last lap retirement due to a component failure.
Christopher Richards – Xentek Motorsport Team Principal: “It’s been another great weekend of Ginetta racing and we’re proud to have taken a total of nine podium finishes across five different classes in the two championships. It’s a testament to the continued hard work and talent of everyone in the team.
“It was fantastic to see Shiv put it all together and produce such a dominant performance over the three races. Alex was right up there with him and deserved to be back on the GTA podium, while we were impressed by the progression Makesh made on his debut weekend.
“Hadley and Alex were right on the pace from the off in their respective classes and richly deserved their race one podiums. Unfortunately luck went against them both in race two, but we know they’ll bounce back well and be fighting for more podiums next time out.”
The 2025 Ginetta season now heads into its penultimate round, taking place at Brands Hatch next month (23/24 August). Prior to that, Xentek Motorsport will be heading north of the border to Knockhill in Scotland for the next round of the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB (16/17 August).
